Some people are born healers; others have healing thrust upon them...
Douglas was born on 18th May 1947 in Tonbridge, Kent, England. By profession he was a lighting and interior designer, and during his very successful career he worked on a number of major commercial and residential projects including the restoration of several old manor houses. In his thirties, he was the youngest-ever President of the UK Lighting Industry, representing the industry throughout the world. When he was 45, however, his shining lifestyle came to an abrupt end when he was made redundant.
It was, ironically, this crisis that proved to be the turning point in his life. Forced to seek alternative work to support his wife and young children, he seriously injured his back. Conventional medicine did not help, nor did any of the complementary therapies he tried. A friend suggested that he should go to a healer. Initially his scepticism prevailed, but continued pain forced a change of heart, and so he experienced hands-on-healing for the first time. With regular treatments, his back showed significant improvement, much to his amazement and delight. When it was later suggested that Douglas should see a medium, he was not quite so sceptical.
The first thing the medium said to him was, “you are going to be a famous international healer.” Douglas reacted with a mix of amusement, astonishment and downright disbelief. The medium went on to explain exactly where and when the healing gift would be given to him: “it will be in the middle of March, when you are in America, ”she said,“ I don’t know how you know I am going to America,” Douglas replied,” but it is in February, not March.” When Douglas’s ski-ing partner called not long afterwards to ask if the trip could be changed from February to March, however, the plot began to thicken!
One day – in March – after a day’s ski-ing, Douglas and his friend were relaxing in a hot tub at their hotel. Another guest, who had injured her neck on the slopes, stopped to talk to them. To his amazement, Douglas found himself asking if she had a problem and offering to help. When the lady asked if he was a healer, he heard himself saying, “Yes, I am.“ And then he remembered – it was all exactly as the medium had said. A session was arranged with the lady and, as Douglas recalls, “I heard a voice telling me to put my hands on her neck. As soon as I did that, she said that the pain left.” The gift of healing had been granted to Douglas and his life started to take another direction.
