In Search of a Miracle

I met Douglas Ballard towards the end of 1999, when I asked for his help after being diagnosed with a peripheral neuropathy affecting my feet – not life-threatening, but pretty devastating to me as, since retiring, my husband and I had become devotees of ballroom dancing. Good balance is essential for the more advanced steps, but with the numb condition of my feet, we reluctantly had to give the dance floor a miss.

Hospital tests proved that there was nothing modern science could do except monitor the situation and my consultant told me that the nerves to my feet would repair – given time – a long time! That was the situation when I had my first healing treatment from Douglas Ballard. I will never forget feeling the heat of his hands on my icy-cold feet which, up to that point had very little or no feeling and how my feet ‘tingled’ as I walked away after my treatment – the most I had felt in them for some time.

I had many treatments over the next few months and, by the time I went to see my consultant again, there was a considerable improvement. I was told this was due to a natural remission, but the haematology consultant I subsequently saw was very open-minded and interested in my healing experience. He suggested I should keep up the healing, as the only other treatment they could offer was steroids. I did keep up the healing, seeing Douglas regularly and soon my husband and I were back on the tea-dancing circuit – thanks to Douglas Ballard!

In August 2002, when I was brought to a standstill by intense shoulder pain. After X-rays and a scan, I was told by a consultant who specialises in shoulder problems, that I had a quite substantial tear in my shoulder’s ‘Rotator Cuff’ which was not something that would heal naturally. At my age (67 at that time), an operation to have the tear stitched was not recommended.

The consultant’s aim was to keep me pain-free and as mobile as possible. To that end, my doctor prescribed strong painkillers, but when the pain subsided, I found I was unable to move my arm.

When I contacted Douglas at that time, I was in a very low state of mind, but was given hope when he said he was sure he could help - and help he certainly did! After about 20 minutes of sitting with his hands on my shoulders, when I could feel heat permeating though my shoulders, he said, “lift your arm up Claire”. To my utter delight, not only was I able to raise my arm normally, but I could raise it all the way above my head – and there was no pain!

A few days later, I had an appointment to visit my consultant again. When I explained about Douglas and his healing therapy and demonstrated by raising my arm, he was taken aback and said that with the size of tear I had in my shoulder, this result was “truly amazing!”
